ASP Black Tactical Hinge Handcuffs (Steel)
- Flat Contact Surface with fully Radiused Edges, Serial Numbered
- Recessed Keyway on Each Side of Cuff with Yellow Indicator Double Lock Alert
- Replaceable Lock Sets
- Four Point Hinge
As with all ASP products, the design for these Hinge Handcuffs originated in the field. ASP Trainers surveyed instructors and officers throughout the world. The most desirable handcuff features were listed and categorized. The result is a handcuff unlike any other. The design introduces features, construction and materials that are innovative, real world and strong. An optimized frame design was achieved through the use of sophisticated computerized engineering programs. Strength potential was maximized through the selection of an optimal combination of materials, heat treatment, frame geometry and reinforcing ribs. The overmolded stainless steel frames of ASP Hinge Handcuffs flex to the side when improperly applied to reduce injury potential from excessive lateral stress. The swivel has traditionally been the weakest part of any handcuff design. The Hinge cuff uses a pin and plate link to provide rigid frame alignment. The stainless steel links of ASP Hinge Handcuffs have a four point pivot structure to maximize handling characteristics.

Great cuffs,
I am very impressed with these cuffs. I use them at work and love them. They are very durable and the double locking is very easy. I also like how the key hole is on both sides. It makes it alot easier to take the cuffs off of someone.

|Lightweight, but flimsy,
These handcuffs are definitely much lighter than my hinged Peerless cuffs. What I noticed was when applying the handcuffs to a person, the single strand would not always line up between the double strands. This appears to be caused because the handcuffs will flex more than the metal Peerless cuffs I used. This can be an officer safety issue if trying to restrain a combative suspect where seconds count and the longer you have the suspect unrestrained the higher likelihood of injury. I went back to my Peerless cuffs.

|Poor design. Poor construction.,
These seem to be quite strong, but the ones I got were slightly bent right out of the package, and one cuff didn’t close too smoothly. Seems like poor quality control. Worse, I think ASP missed the whole point of hinged/rigid cuffs – with the wide availability of universal cuff keys, having the keyholes faced away from the hands is a great aid to security, but with these, the double-sided keyways allow anyone who’s concealed a key to remove them. The removable locking mechanism might allow modification (file off one of the unlocking pawls) but you’re lots better off with the much nicer S&W 300/300P hinged cuffs instead. Because of the design defect, they’re really better suited for activities not involving law-enforcement. Fit seems about average, there are other cuffs better suited for wear on either extra-large or extra-small wrists.
