ASP Chain Lightweight Handcuffs provide a major advance in both the design and construction of wrist restraints. Frame geometry is the result of extensive computer modeling and simulation analysis. Strength potential has been maximized through use of an interlocking, unitized frame. The cuff structure is made with aluminum to reduce weight and maximize security. Each restraint is then overmolded with ordnance grade polymer under 75 tons of pressure. The Lock Assembly is unitized and replaceable.

Great handcuffs,
These handcuffs are good cuffs. They are strong, they are lightweight, and they are ovesized for bigger wrists. They load easily and the action and racheting are very smooth. That said,
* No handcuff is immune. Someone somewhere will break out of any handcuff. It behooves the person to realize that no cuff is human proof and that they are psychologicall restraints with a physical side effect.
* Good cuffs don’t cover sloppy technique. Applying handcuffs to a struggling assailant is dicey in any situation. Worrying that the arm of the cuff will miss the teeth because the BG is struggling may, just may, mean that a little more time need be taken to subdue the subject. That said, stuff happens and sometimes the cards fall poorly and yes, there is a danger with these cuffs that the teeth may miss. Weight… tensile strength… there’s a balance.
Also, good cuffing means searching “areas accessible to the hands.” Keyholes on both sides make it easier for the BG to pick them… BS. Officer/agent improperly cuffs and improperly searches makes it easier for the BG to pick them. Reference statement above about psychological restraints.
* Just get the damned cuffs on. In the heat of the moment the prudent officer will handcuff the BG to his own nose ring if need be. Just get ‘em on! Then, take a moment and readjust. So if one needs to apply a second pair in order to readjust, it is quite nice to have both the double lock and key hole accessible from both sides.
All in all good cuffs. Again, not human proof. But for the lighter weight it’s a pretty good set.

|ASP BLACK TACTICAL HANDCUFFS,
There were two problems I encontered with this handcuff. First, this particular brand is thicker than most handcuffs, so it didn’t fit into my Bianchi dual handcuff holster. I ended up having to choose between my older handcuff and this, instead of having both of them on my duty belt. You will need to purchase ASP’s dual holster to fit two if you really want it. Secondly, the swing arm that locks to the base gets stuck inbetween its two pronged holder, which makes it harder to ratchet around the wrist compared to my older handcuff. Other than that, this handcuff is light and could accomodate thicker wrists compared to my older handcuffs.
